PICNYM

Privacy Policy

How PICNYM handles information.

Effective: 8 August 2026 · Last updated: 8 August 2026

PICNYM is designed so inbox owners do not receive a hidden sender’s identity simply because someone sends an anonymous message. Limited information is still processed to operate, secure and moderate the service.

1. Account and profile information

If you create an account, PICNYM may process your email address, authentication identifier, display name, username, bio, profile picture, theme and privacy preferences, friend relationships and plan status. Supabase handles account authentication, and Google processes authentication information when you choose Google sign-in.

2. Content you provide

Submitted content can include text, images, audio or voice notes, polls, votes, inbox-owner replies, public answered posts, reports, prompt selections and inbox settings such as hidden words. PICNYM processes this content to provide the feature you request.

3. Anonymous messages and optional profile reveal

By default, an anonymous message does not show the sender’s PICNYM profile to the inbox owner. A signed-in sender may deliberately attach their profile to one message. PICNYM Premium does not provide hidden emails, exact locations, IP addresses or device fingerprints to inbox owners.

4. Technical and abuse-prevention information

PICNYM and its infrastructure may process IP or network information, browser or app information, timestamps, generated client identifiers and one-way hashed anti-abuse identifiers. These signals may be used for rate limiting, spam control, blocking, duplicate-vote prevention, security monitoring and aggregate analytics. Normal product interfaces do not expose raw technical identifiers to other users.

5. Friends and discoverability

If discoverability is enabled, signed-in users may find your username and public profile. Friend requests and accepted connections are stored so social and friend-only features work. You can disable discoverability or new friend requests in Settings.

6. What inbox owners can see and control

Inbox owners can see message content, timestamps, replies and moderation state. They can pause or restrict an inbox, disable media types, filter hidden words, report or delete messages, block a sender and permanently delete an inbox.

7. Public and shared content

An inbox owner can deliberately publish a replied message to a public profile or share a generated image card elsewhere. Poll links and prompt links can also be shared. Public profile information and deliberately published answers may be viewed by anyone who opens those links.

8. Browser and device storage

PICNYM uses browser or app storage for sessions, theme and interface preferences, onboarding state, installation state, voting state and legacy inbox-owner tokens. Sessions may persist until you sign out, clear app or site data, or the session expires.

9. Service providers

PICNYM uses providers for hosting, authentication, databases, storage and delivery, including Supabase, Vercel and Google authentication services. Those providers process data as required to provide their services under their own applicable terms and policies.

10. Retention, export and deletion

Messages remain until removed by an inbox owner or by PICNYM for safety, legal or operational reasons. Account users can delete individual inboxes and permanently delete their account in Settings. Limited backups or security logs may persist temporarily under provider retention practices. A basic account-settings export is also available.

11. Age eligibility

PICNYM is intended only for users aged 18 and above. The service may use age declarations or other age-assurance measures where platform rules or local law require them. Do not submit passwords, financial credentials or highly sensitive personal information through anonymous messages.

12. Security and your choices

PICNYM uses authentication, access controls, HTTPS, request limits and moderation controls, but no online service can promise perfect security. You can change privacy preferences, pause or restrict inboxes, manage hidden words, block or report messages, remove content, sign out, export basic account data or delete your account.

13. Changes and contact

This policy may change as PICNYM adds features, providers or legal requirements. Material revisions will update the date above.
